Sniffle, Cough...I Think I Need Some Retail Therapy

Hey guys and dolls, hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial holiday weekend. Much barbecuing and picnicking I presume? Lovely.

Feeling a bit under the weather today so I'll keep this short and sweet. I do believe that all you Upper East Siders can squeal with glee because the brand spanking new 86th street H&M should finally be opening its doors to all. Oh yes, I can't wait to see the bright, shiny new frocks its glorious shelves have to offer.

Anyhow, I need to do some photo uploading soon so that I can post those of the Bergdorf windows corresponding to the Met's Model as Muse exhibit and I plan to take MANY fab photos this Saturday when I go out to Governor's Island for the Manhattan Polo match (Prince Harry IS single you know!).

Also coming up in just a few short weeks is the Whitney Art Party! Though I don't completely want to part with my hard earned $250 for a ticket...I think I must.

Byeee,

Spotted...

Agyness Deyn walking into The Bean on 1st Ave. last night. Nice, she held the door open and waited as K and I were walking out. No Albert Hammond Jr. in sight.

Le Week-end!

Ahhh, Friday! Things to check out (in NYC, sorry):

The Chocolate Show is this weekend! It kicked off with the usual chocolate fashion show (above photo not of this year's show). Not sure if I'll make it or not, mainly because I'm not sure I feel like spending the $28 for a ticket.

Also, LuckyShops is having its sale. Tomorrow is the last day! Labels such as Vena Cava, Geren Ford and See by Chloe will be there, will you? Items will be up to 70% off retail, so if you still want to shop in this recession, this might be the place to do it.

As for me, I must figure out what to wear to a friend's b-day dinner & drinks celebration...but I don't know where we're going yet! Also, found a great coffee table and two side tables, so I get to pick them up tomorrow (yay!) and hope they'll fit into a taxi.

Bon week-end!

Chanel Mobile Art!

So yay! Today kicks off the opening of the Chanel Mobile Art exhibit in Central Park. Created by Zaha Hadid, it should be pretty fantastic. I'm excited! Sadly I'll have to wait for the weekend as worky work and exhibit hours clash. I'll post pics after I go.

More info at the website.

In Other Urban News

Sooo, I didn't get to post this yesterday when I wanted to, but here it is for you now. Via Gawker, Keith McNally's daughter, Isabelle, will be modeling for an Urban Outfitters campaign. Perhaps she'll get to wear some of the collaborative works from Grey Ant or Spring & Clifton as I mentioned before.

Anyhow, for now it certainly looks like she's venturing more toward a career in fashion, unlike her father, he of restaurants
Balthazar and Pastis in NYC.

P.S. Speaking of restaurants, since I was still having internet troubles when I got home yesterday, I decided to join one of my roommates for dessert at
Serendipity III. I indulged in an enormous banana split. And what lovely surprise did I find upon returning home? Finally, finally! My internet was working long enough for me to upload some photos to Flickr, so I shall soon try to post some for you. Yay!

Word for Word

Hey Everyone!

Since I’ve been thinking a lot about writing lately, in all its many forms, Thursday night after work I decided to check out the
Word for Word series in Bryant Park. This was the first time I’ve ever gone because I actually never even realized that they had it. Just one more thing I love about New York in the summer, there are so many amazing things to do, often for free or on the cheap. Just the other day as I was leaving my friend K’s b-day picnic in Central Park I saw people participating in a free Argentinean (if I remember?) dance class, but I digress. Last night’s session was on Screen Writing. I’m convinced I could be the female version of Matt or Ben with Good Will Hunting...or maybe Diablo (of course, I don't have the interesting stripper back story, haha).

Eek, scary, scary pigeon! "Is there something on my head"

Sophia Romma was there to speak and had some good tips and info on the steps to take during the writing process. Yes, I did take notes. I still think I’d like to take an actual class to get a more in depth understanding, but last night was free, so why not? I think it’s very cool that they offer things like this. Snapped a few photos which I've included for you (though none of me; yesterday’s outfit was not so interesting…that’s what happens when I wake up 40 minutes late!).

Anyhow, last night I went to Fig & Olive with my friend J for the last day of Restaurant Week! I’m not always thrilled with what many restos choose to put on their menus for these weeks. Hmm, chicken, salmon or pasta? Don’t get me wrong, I like salmon and pasta (no chicken since I’m a pescetarian) but couldn’t they get a little more interesting? Problem is, most of the top restos can get away with this because they already have a following and can get business anyway, so they have nothing to prove. The menu for Fig & Olive looked pretty decent for Restaurant Week so I was excited...

What I Wore:

On the moon!

The food:

Drink: Rosé, Appetizer: Cucumber and Pink Peppercorn Soup with Garlic Crostini

Entrée: Branzino with Figs and Pea Shoots

Dessert: Chocolate Pot de Crème & Berries in Balsamic with Mascarpone Gelato.

My hair is kind of a mess here.

Ha! I don't know what I'm doing...and I really don't like like that Sleepy's sign.

Trying to be casual? And random guy on phone ruining my picture, will have to cut him out later.

J & me. I think I look kind of weird, but whatevs.

La la la, hello kitty!

Oh how I love this city for its randomness. Okay, end of adventure! Or, um, at least random photo taking for the night.

Boo, it's raining today but time to go out and play!

Ciao,

B
